Due Date and Snow on Valley Avenue

Today is baby Jack's due date! I expected to wake up this morning disappointed at another day without our little guy here. Instead, I awoke feeling excited and full of energy. Luke and I took advantage of him being on FMLA and went to Sunday School AND church TOGETHER! (A rare occurrence since Luke works Sundays.) I think the sheer size of my belly made some people nervous -- this little guy's arrival is definitely impending.

After church, Luke took me to one of my comfort-food favorites -- a Chinese buffet. :) After some sage and definitely unsolicited delivery advice from our server, we headed home to spend a lazy afternoon watching football and taking a Sunday afternoon nap.

In the early evening, the predicted winter weather came in a little early, first in the form of sleet, and then snow.  Night shift was called into work several hours early, so Luke and I had hot drinks and Friendship Bread at our place for those who wanted to stop in. When they left, Luke's buddies told him to call if we needed help getting to the hospital tonight, but it appears Jack is staying put for now -- not a single contraction today.

After the guys left, I felt like staying up, so we pulled out Two Weeks Notice since anything dramatic or emotional seems to send my hormone-riddled self to tears. (Thank the Lord for a husband who will watch Hugh Grant.)

By the time it was over, we were about to head to bed -- already way too late -- when we looked outside to see this winter wonderland on Valley Avenue:

So, Luke, me, Foster, and baby Jack went for a midnight walk in the beautiful, quiet snow!

The ice is covered in snow now -- probably 2 inches and still coming! It's way too late to be up, but what a lovely end to our wonderful due date day.
