As many of you know, Ed and Melda have been like second parents to Luke -- ever since he followed their son, Adam, home from Franklin High football practice and stayed for dinner. :) Luke made many appearances at their dinner table in the days and years to follow. Ed and Melda provided a fantastic cheering section for Luke at football games, wrestling matches, and graduations, which was extra special since the majority of Luke's family lives over a thousand miles away and couldn't be there for such events. Ed and Melda invited me into their home just as warmly 9 years ago when Luke brought me home to meet them.
This weekend was Ed's 60th birthday, and Luke was able to get off shift and sleep in the car to make it to his surprise party. Not only was a it a very fun night, but it was great to get to celebrate someone who has poured so much into our lives. Thank you, Ed, for your kindness, listening ear, wise council, and belief in us as individuals and as a couple. You are a wonderful example of a godly man and faithful husband and dad. We love you very much!

Robbie is Luke's favorite little brother, and he turned 14 this week! While we were in town, we got to take him on a visit to our favorite bookstore McKay's, by my parents' house for Dad's famous steak, and back home to watch the first home Titans game of the season. What a perfect day to spend together as brothers!
Robbie is a kind, smart, fun guy and we love getting to spend time with him. He and Luke are just about equally as excited about baby Jack joining their ranks soon. Robbie, we love you very much and are proud of how you are thinking through things and working to make wise choices. We hope this is your most wonderful year yet!
While we were in town, we also got to spend some time with my wonderful family -- Sunday lunch and then cobbler making with Mom, grilling out Monday, and then lunch at school with them on Tuesday. Aren't they so cute in their uniforms?!
